Access Resources From Home

Using Remote Patron Authentication software the library now provides registered patrons home or office access to many of the databases available from within the library. For a description of these resources, click here. These databases include all of DISCUS, South Carolina's Virtual Library. Click the link below to sign in.

Please note that RPA now requires your entire barcode number.

Remote Access

To sign in, you will need to provide your library card number and a PIN (Personal Identification Number). Staff will setup a PIN for you in person at the library or you can click here to find out how to do this online.

RPA now requires that you enter the entire 14 digit barcode number from the back of your card.

Please report any problems by email to the or call the main library during normal business hours.

Note: Using RPA requires a browser that accepts "cookies" and is JavaScript enabled.

Setting Up a PIN

The first time you use RPA you will need to set a PIN (personal identification number). You can do this online through HIP, our online catalog.

  • Choose Online Catalog from our menu, then choose Search Catalog.
  • From the HIP menu, choose My Account. You will be prompted for your barcode and PIN. In HIP, your PIN is initially set as the last four digits of your phone number (the number you have on file at the library). HIP will display your patron information.
  • Choose Profile from the menu. Scroll down to Personal Identification Number. The screen displays three boxes. In the top box, enter your current PIN, the last four digits of your phone number. In the second box, enter your new PIN. Your PIN must be four numeric characters. In the last box, re-enter the new PIN as a verification, then press the Update button. You will get a message indicating that your PIN has been changed.

You can now use this PIN for both HIP and Remote Patron Authentication.
