Library Debuts New Online Catalog
in January

Beginning in January, the library's website will have an exciting new component:  a new version of the library's online catalog.

Powered by
ipac software from epixtech, inc., the new catalog is more user-friendly than the old version, and offers many more exciting features such as:

  • book jacket art,
  • sample chapters,
  • tables of contents, and
  • links to book reviews.

Bestseller lists are just a click away and show which books the library owns.

Entering a library card barcode and pin number allows patrons access to two other features of the new online catalog.

  • The "My Account" tab allows patrons to view their records, renew materials, and place holds on materials that are checked out.
  • "Online Resources" on the Search toolbar  is a link to online databases provided by the statewide DISCUS project and the Fairfield County Library.  Look here for access to resouces like Encyclopedia Britannica, magazine and journal articles in the InfoTrac databases, Biography Resource Center, and PoemFinder.

Technical Notes:  The new catalog is an HTML product, unlike the previous catalog which ran as a Java applet.  It loads much faster and is easier to bookmark.  It will work best with the latest versions of Internet Explorer or Netscape.

Check out the new online catalog by clicking on "Online Catalog" in the menu on the library's websit

Tips for using the new online catalog:

  • Best Sellers links to a list of the New York Times & Publisher's Weekly lists
  • Online Resources is a link to biography, periodical, and encyclopedia databases
  • My Account lets you look at what you have checked out, renew books, and place holds.
