I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome our new County Administrator, Clay Killian, to Fairfield County.  He heads up a group of people that are very important to us at the library:  the employees of Fairfield County government.
Although the library is an independent agency, governed by a Library Commission appointed by the County Council, we depend on help from many people in county government positions.  I'd like to say thanks to some of them (in no particular order!):

  • Annie McDaniel and Melissa Taylor in the Finance Office who help with budgets and audits
  • Shryll Brown, Clerk to County Council, who keeps up with our library board's terms of office
  • Cornelius Kennedy and Charles Wakefield who keep our building clean
  • Maintenance Director Mike Linville and the guys (Keith, Mike and Joe) who keep our lights on, air conditioning running, and plumbing working
  • Norma Branham and everyone in the Treasurer's Office who get our State Aid checks to us
  • Davis Anderson and Carol Ann Yarborough who help with various personnel-related issues
  • Sandy Clowney who knows how to get in touch with anyone, anytime
  • John Mozie with the Board of Disabilities who cuts our grass

As always, feel free to reach me at the library by phone (635-4971), by fax (635-7715), or by email (sarah@fairfield.lib.sc.us.).

Patchwork Players to Perform
The Patchwork Players will present "Sindbad the Sailor" at the Fairfield County Library on Wednesday, July 18th at 10:00 a.m.

Sindbad the Sailor is the fantastic story of an early merchant trader who, with his jolly, hardy, crew, faces uncounted perils as they sail the seven seas!  This play relates his most exciting voyages in which he and his crew meet sea monsters, are kidnapped by Bonzo apes, confront the dreaded Rok birds, and discover a fortune in jewels in an island cave.  Sindbad is a good fellow who goes out of his way to help others.  He meets and rescues a lovely lady from Baghdad from a band of bloodthirsty pirates and saves a servant boy from a cruel master.  The tale is told in light comic style and the performance lasts about 45 minutes.

Patchwork Players.
