Compliments of the Friends of the Library

April - June, 2002

Friends Annual Used Book Sale
Will Begin May 5th
Book lovers, get ready for your annual treat:  the Used Book Sale is coming in May!

Each year the Friends of the Library sponsor a Used Book Sale to raise funds for programs and projects that support the library.  And each year the sale seems to get a little bigger and better, thanks to donations from the community and thanks to book lovers in search of bargains.  Prices are truly affordable with paperbacks selling 10 for $1.00, and hardbacks 4 for $1.00.  Specially priced items sell for $1.00 and up, with sets of books individually priced also.

Here's the schedule for the May sale:

Saturday, May 4th, 2:00 p.m.

Sunday, May 5th, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Special preview sale for Friends members (memberships available at the door)

Monday, May 6th-Friday, May 17th

Library Hosts Intern from USC

The Fairfield County Library is sponsoring an intern from the College of Library and Information Science at USC this semester.  Beth Myers is working on her Masters in Librarianship and wanted to do her internship in a small public library.  While spending about one day per week in Winnsboro, Beth has managed to experience a wide range of public library tasks:  everything from ordering and cataloging books, working the circulation desk, helping patrons with the computers, planning and presenting children's programs, and attending state meetings with Sarah McMaster, to working on a website project.  Beth, who grew up in West Virginia, has family at Edisto and hopes to work in a South Carolina library after she finishes her degree.
